Can bhagavd Gita be read as a bed time literature or does it have to be kept sacred and read during ceremonial activities such as Pooja.

of course it has to be sacred, you dont expect to put it by your bed at night. Geeta is sacred, should be read but dont do paap by treating it as bed time activity

When I was young my parents had forbidden me to read bhagvad gita as a book. They used to wrap it in a piece of yellow cloth and keep it at the sacred altar. No one in the family was allowed to touch it- forget about reading it. It was only read when we had some special Pooja at home performed by a pundit. It was also a belief that Bahagvad Gita was a book to be read when some ones dies or is very sick in the family. Otherwise not...The misnomer and misconception about the actual fact was exposed to me by devotees. Now we read and listen and participate in bhagavad Gita daily and it has made a difference- postivly of course.
